Starting Projects, Living Pura Vida

The following post features student writing.

¡Hola!

Our names are Lila and Constantin, and we are a part of the Putney Student Travel group sent to Biolley for 2017! Together, we are 13 students and two leaders from across the world, sent to help ASOMOBI improve their working environment. While here, we will work on multiple projects throughout the grounds, such as reconstructing coffee beds, extending paths, and building new floors for machines (for more information about ASOMOBI, the Association of Women in Biolley, check out their website or Facebook page).

We arrived yesterday evening, and will be here until July 26, so stay tuned for exciting updates and pictures from us! Upon our arrival, we were greeted by many ASOMOBI members and their families, who welcomed us with a delicious, traditional meal. When dinner concluded, many of us danced salsa with ASOMOBI members, and played with their children. The group picture at the top is from after the party of all of us with a few of the community members. Today was our first day of work, and our incredible foreman, Miguel, provided us with many tasks and advice on how to complete them.

The people of ASOMOBI have been so kind and welcoming; we cannot wait to see what amazing memories are made in the next month!

Here are just a few photos from our first day of work. We will post more as soon as we can!
